Obituary of George-E. Davis


DAVIS George E. Davis died Friday, July 18, 2003 at the age of 88. Born in Boston, he graduated from Northeastern University in chemical engineering. He worked mostly in R&D of synthetic fibers, bringing several new products to market. In 1942 he married Louise Belisle of Ayer, Mass. George served in the war, in the Aleutian Islands and other locations as a First Lieutenant. After the war he and Louise started a family, living most of their married life in Fairfield, In addition to the Boston Red Sox, George's other favorite recreations were reading non-fiction, and exercising his considerable skill as an amateur woodworker. The onset of macular degeneration in the early 1990's was a major blow. George and Louise moved to Seattle in 1999. George is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, his three children and their spouses, Thomas and Johanna of Scottsdale, Jean and Don Stonack of Seattle, and George and his wife Lisa Bonneville of Manchester, Mass.; a grandson Eric Davis, and his wife, Margaret, of Novato, Calif.; and granddaughter, Florence, and her husband Dominic, Pang, of Cambridge, Mass.; three great grandchildren, to be born later this year, missed knowing a wonderful, intelligent and caring man. Memorial gifts may be made to the Macular Degeneration Center at the Casey Eye Institute, 3375 Terwilliger Blvd, Portland, OR 97201
