George A. Lee Jan. 30, 1928 - March 11, 2015 George A. Lee, 87, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset, surrounded by his loving family. Cremation will be private. A memorial service is being held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, N.J. To send condolences please go to higginsfuneralhome.com. George was born in Hillside, N.J., to the late Edward W. Lee and Gertrude. He graduated from Hillside High School in 1946 after which, he served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. He was stationed in numerous locations including Alaska and Germany for the Berlin Air Lift after World War II. After serving his country, George worked and attended Rutgers University in Newark, N.J., full time. After his marriage to his wife, Ruth, he lived in Newark, South Plainfield, N.J., and for the last 37 years, Warren Township, N.J. He was employed for 37 years as a bio lab testing technician in qality control at Anheuser Busch in Newark, retiring in 1989. George enjoyed cruising, traveling around the world, visiting Atlantic City, reading, working in his yard, relaxing at his home on Long Beach Island, N.J., and especially spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He was a warm and wonderful man with a terrific sense of humor who loved being with people. He will be greatly missed. George is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth M. Lee (2010), and his brother Edward (during World War II). He is survived by his loving children, Kathryn R. Creighton and her husband, Thomas, and George A. Lee Jr.; his grandchildren Katie, Timothy, and Kyle Lee, Karin Wolosz and her husband, Matthew, and Jeffrey Creighton; his sister, Dorothy Groh and her husband, George, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, P.O. Box 149, Bound Brook, N.J. 08805, would be greatly appreciated. It was a cause he loved working to support.
