SMITH, Gussie Mae Nash wasborn May 29, 1928, in RoseHill, Alabama, and was thesecond daughter of AugustusStanley Nash and FannieKate McBryde Nash. She diedSunday, August 22, 2010, inMontgomery, Alabama, ofParkinson's and congestiveheart failure. She was preceded in death by her infantsister Mary Katherine Nash,her parents, and her husbandJohn Elton Smith, Sr. She is survived by her sisters Sara Martha Nash Horn (Delwin) andAntnet Lorene Nash Daughtry(Gordon), her sons Paul Marion Smith (Sue) and the Rev.John Elton Smith, Jr. (Sutton),and granddaughters Cindy Mae Smith Dahl and Grafton Elizabeth O'Neill Smith,and step-granddaughtersCarrie Ann McDaniel andChristina McDaniel, and bynumerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was ahomemaker and worked alsofor the State of Alabama inthe departments of Health,Education, Revenue and Industrial Relations. She wasgraduated from StraughnHigh School and Massey-Draughan Business College.Friends and family will be received August 27 at AlabamaHeritage Funeral Home from5 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the funeral service thenext day. Services will beheld at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at AlabamaHeritage Funeral Home withinterment to follow immediately at Macedonia Methodist Cemetery at Rose Hill, Alabama. Clergy officiating willbe the Rev. Steve Nulph andthe Rev. Donald Hall. Following interment there will be areception at MacedoniaMethodist Church FellowshipHall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Parkinson's Foundation,P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown,MD 21741-5018; Perry HillRoad Baptist Church (Pastor'sContinuing Education Fund orBuilding Fund), 3909 VistaCircle, Montgomery, AL36109; or St. John's EpiscopalChurch Soup Kitchen, P.O.Box 613, Butte, MT 59703.
