FREEMAN S. JONES AURORA, IL Freeman S. Jones, 82, of Aurora, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born October 27, 1928 in Pelham, Massachusetts, the son of Linus H. and Ethelyn (Streeter) Jones. Freeman graduated from Amherst High School in 1946 and from Amherst College in 1950 cum laude with an AB in chemistry. He received his Master's Degree in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire in 1952. In July 1952, he started working for Standard Oil Company of Indiana, as an analytical chemist in Whiting, IN. In 1974, he relocated to the research lab in Naperville, IL where he continued working for Amoco Corp. until retiring in 1988 after 36 years of service. After retirement, he did volunteer work for Provena McAuley Manor and the Fox Valley DBSA Support Group. He attended First Christian Church in Aurora. On April 2, 1955, Freeman married Judith Stanfield. She passed away in 1982. On March 30, 1984, he married Blanche Brown. She passed away in 2010. Survivors include his daughters: Cynthia (Michael) Pitman, Marilyn (Marc) Skertic, and Carol (Mark) Rowley; step-children: Nick (Barbara) Brown, Steve (Cindee) Brown and Karen Sewell; a brother, Miles (Silvija) Jones; grandchildren: Jackie, Michelle and Kevin Rowley; Stephanie and Lisa Pitman; Aaron, Eli, Alexandra and Justine Brown; Kimberly Baranoff; Crystal Sewell; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL, with Rev. Michael Ragan officiating. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 4:00-8:00PM also at The Healy Chapel. Interment will be on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. The processional to the burial site will commence at Calumet Park Funeral Home, 7535 Taft St., Merrillville at 10:45 AM.
