Frederick Keeler, born in 1919, spouse of Jean Keeler, son of Joseph and Sarah, father of Marilyn, Don, Marilyn', Christopher, Kevin, Cameron, Calvin, Holly, Tracy, Calvin', Douglas, Stephen, Mark, Holly', Adam, Jenna, Tracy', Kyle and Ellen, died on January 16, 2009 at 89 years old.
KEELER, Frederick William Fredrick William Keeler passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 16, 2009 at the age of 89 years.Fred was born on July 9, 1919. He was pre-deceased by his mother Sarah in 1946, his father Joseph in 1948, and his sister May in 1993. He was also predeceased by his first wife of 26 years, Jean in 1974. Fred is survived by his two natural children, Marilyn and Don; Marilyn's partner Lisa; Don's wife Donna and their three sons Christopher, Kevin, and Cameron all of Edmonton. Fred is also survived by his second wife of 30 years, Bonnie, and her natural children Calvin and Holly of Edmonton, and Tracy of Sweden; Calvin's wife Janet and their three sons Douglas and his wife Jennifer of Cochrane, Alberta, Stephen, and Mark; Holly's husband Robert and their children Adam and Jenna, all of Edmonton; Tracy's husband Peter, and their children Kyle and Ellen. Fred owned and operated Keeler Painting and Decorating, one of the city's most respected painting contractors, for almost four decades before passing the company to his son Don in 1982. Fred's honesty, integrity, and hard work earned him the respect and admiration of all of the people who worked for him, and who he worked with and for. Fred not only took great pride in his work but he truly loved getting up in the morning and going to the shop. This is surely his enduring legacy. Although Fred suffered some ill health over the past year, he lived a long, purposeful life that was filled with many fine friends and loving family. Fred was a positive and powerful role model. Many will consider themselves privileged to have known this quiet, humble, and peaceful man. Fred was loved and will be missed but he will not be forgotten. Fred's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Lynnwood for their care of Fred over the past several months. In particular, thanks to Dr. Thomas Ranieri, for his sensitivity and guidance to Fred's family. Fred's celebration of life and funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Connelly-McKinley at 10011 - 114 Street. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 16102 - Fort Road. A reception will follow.
