Frederick-Albert Johnson, born in 1913, spouse of Ida Johnson, son of Elmer and Grace, father of Evelyn, Carilyn and Marilynn, died on October 1, 2004. Please consult the obituary here:
JOHNSON, FREDERICK ALBERT - Frederick Albert Johnson was born at Johnson Croft, New Brunswick on May 3, 1913 to Elmer and Grace Johnson. His wife Ida, his younger sister, Doris, and brother Eldon predeceased him. He is survived by three daughters; Marilynn Cassidy of Saint John, NB, Carilyn Kelly (George) of Halifax, NS, and Evelyn Cuthbertson (Richard) of Gondola Point, NB; four grandchildren Shelley Scott of Saint John, NB, Kelley Carter of Kannapolis, NC, Brad Cameron of Charlotte, NC, and Jeff Kelly of Halifax, NS; seven great-grandchildren Christine, John and Matthew Cameron, Jacob and Caleb Earney, Rachel and Seth Carter. Fred went to work at the age of ten to help his widowed mother bring up his brother and sister. He worked in the wood business with his grandfather. He established his own successful small mill business, which took him throughout the Saint John River Valley, and the City, servicing his customers. Trucking was always a passion in his life. He designed and built the first "dump" truck in his community. He had a great gift of mechanical ability, which opened positions for him in Saint John at Stevenson's Machine Shop, a print-reader at the Dry Dock, and just prior to retirement he was foreman for the Department of Public Works at Woodman's Point, NB. An active community worker, he held leadership positions in Brown's Flat Baptist Church, was a member of the Orange Lodge, the Home and School Association, the Progressive Conservative Party, and served as a King's county Counselor. Fred's retirement years were spent traveling across Canada and the United States visiting his cherished family, woodworking, and a life long labor of love: helping others. His love for his wife, Ida, who he courted by traveling on the Majestic River Boat to Coles Island weekly, can only be described as unconditional. His legacy: A faithful love for his Lord Jesus with the works to prove it, a strong work ethic, and to keep on smiling no matter what. You can accomplish what God has planned for you. James 2:17 Following cremation visiting will be held from Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road (634-7424), on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 25, 2004, at 1:00 PM, from Bay View Chapel. Following the reception interment will take place at the Brown's Flat Baptist Cemetery at 4:00 PM. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Lung Association, the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. www.bayviewfh.com
