Fred Johnson, born in 1920, spouse of Christine Johnson, father of Don, Robert and Cindy, died on April 28, 2003 at 83 years old.
JOHNSON Fred Johnson, 83, loving husband and father passed away on Monday, April 28, 2003. He was a long time resident of the Beaches and resided in Ponte Vedra for many years. He was born in Chambers County, Alabama. He was greatly loved by his family, friends and neighbors. He will be remembered as a Christian man who believed in family values, loyalty and principles and gave his very best for those he loved. He enjoyed gardening and barbecuing for his friends and family. Fred was an active member of the Jacksonville Beach First Baptist Church, a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Shrine and Elks. He proudly served his country during World War II in France and Germany earning 3 Bronze Stars. He was a retired Greyhound Bus Driver with 40 years of service. He will be missed by his friends and family, and is survived by his sons, Don and Robert Johnson; daughter, Cindy Ludwig; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Christine, who recently pre-deceased him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, from 7- 8:30 PM at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville Beach, FL. The Funeral will be on Friday, May 2, at 10:30 AM at Jacksonville Beach First Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
