Obituary of Fred-Franklin Johnson


JOHNSON, Fred Franklin Age 86 of Smyrna. Died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his home. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Murtie Mai Jorden Johnson. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hewgley Johnson; his daughter, Mailene Caldwell; his brother, Julian Johnson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Smyrna Church of Christ with Brother Ron Caldwell officiating. Internment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the Church. Mr. Johnson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis F. (Janet) Johnson Sr. of Smyrna; his brother, Lytle Johnson of Murfreesboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita (Ernie) Cathey and Geri (Jack) Cantrell both of Smyrna; son-in-law, Ron Caldwell of Smyrna; step mother, Geraldine Johnson of Smyrna; Edna Johnson Farmer, mother of his children; grandchildren, Jessica (Billy) Hiles, Chad (Ashley) Caldwell, Dennis F. (Jennifer) Johnson Jr., Mary Kelly (Richard) Keel, Dusty (Stephanie) Johnson, Michelle Loggins and Leah Martin; 22 great grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was a member of Old Jefferson Church of Christ and was retired from Avco Aero Structures for 38 years. He was a life long and devoted Smyrna Bulldogs fan. Pallbearers will be Dennis F. Johnson Sr., Dennis F. Johnson Jr., Dusty Johnson, Chad Caldwell, Joseph Loggins, Jordan Johnson, Roger Smith, Richard Keel and Shawn Middleton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lytle Johnson, the Smyrna High School Coaching Staff, the Old Jefferson Church of Christ Elders and Eddie Arnold.
