Fred-E. Johnson, born in 1948, spouse of Kathleen-Surowiec Davison, son of James and Marie, died on March 7, 2015 at 66 years old.
BELMONT – Fred E. Johnson, 66, a resident of Belmont died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Mass., following a period of failing health. His companion and close friend of 15 years, Kathleen Surowiec Davison, was at his side.Fred was born in Indianapolis, Dec. 13, 1948, son of the late James and Marie Johnson. Prior to moving to Belmont 15 years ago he resided in Henniker. Following graduation from Northeast High School in Indianapolis, class of 1967, he joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19. He served honorably with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. He was very proud of his service to his country and being, one of "The Few. The Proud." Fred loved sports, watching the Indianapolis Colts, Yankees and the Celtics. His large music collection, from jazz to classic rock, kept him "forever young." He also loved the old movie classics from the 40's and 50's, especially the black and whites.According to his wishes, there are no calling hours. Simple words of remembrance will be given Thursday, March 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Honors will follow in the chapel.Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton.
