Frank "Raymond" Parker, 89, of Lakewood, N.J., passed away on Jan. 25, 2014, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, N.J. Visiting will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, N.J.,www.silvertonmemorial. com. Funeral services will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. at the Laurelton Park Baptist Church, 1595 Route 88, Brick. Burial will follow at Whiting Memorial Park. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., Ray, as everyone referred to him, was a firefighter for the City of Elizabeth. After his career there he worked at Air-Con, Inc. in Mountainside, N.J., retiring in 1989. He also owned and operated Frank's Waxing Service for over 20 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Guam, Leyte, West Pacific, and Southern Philippine campaigns. He was awarded several medals, including the Silver Star for gallantry in action at Guam on Aug. 7, 1944. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Marion "Dawn" Parker, who died on June 12, 2011. Surviving are his son, Gary Parker; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Carl Sandberg; his grandchildren, Sean and Joseph Parker; Keith and his wife, Barbara, and Tracy Sandberg; and his five great-grandchildren, Eric, Sean, Jasmeena, Jermaine, and Ryan.
