LARGO, Fla. - Francis "Frank" J. Daley, 82, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014. He was born Jan. 31, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa. He joined the Naval Reserve during his senior year of high school. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he moved to Peru. There, he was a lifetime member and past fire chief of the Peru Volunteer Fire Department, an auditor for the town of Peru, and served on the board of directors of the Mountain Valley Health Center. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul's Church in Manchester. He worked as a carpenter and plumber, and for the last 25 years of his working career, he was employed at Bromley Mountain in the accounting department. He was married to Dorothy (Wilkins) Daley for 61 years. Following his retirement, he moved with his wife to Florida and summered in Vermont. While in Florida, he was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Largo. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Daley of Largo; a son, James of Peru; four daughters, Teresa Mench of Largo, Fla., Monica Lightfoot of Bondville, Karen Daley-Regan "Murph" of Ascutney, and Kate Malcolm of Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Francis Joseph and a daughter, Annie Moyles, who both died at birth; as well as four sisters and five brothers. A celebration of his life will be held in Vermont this summer.
