Obituary of Frances-T. Fein

FEIN--Frances T. Horace Mann School mourns with profound sorrow the untimely death of Fran Fein, a beloved and greatly respected educator at Horace Mann for over 35 years. Fran was both the consummate teacher's teacher--the ebullient, creative, energetic teacher of threes and fours at the Horace Mann School for Nursery Years from 1961-1985--and the indefatigable, passionate, disciplined Director of the Horace Mann School for Nursery Years from 1985-1997. Always involved with her young students and with her faculty, she displayed great talent for coaxing the best from everyone she worked with. Fran implemented changes and contributed ideas that continue to influence the daily lives of the Horace Mann community. Her leadership skills, her expertise in the field of early childhood education, her years of dedicated service on HM's various committees are matched by her warmth, her sense of humor, and her love and devotion to Horace Mann.
