Frances Louise Boulter (née Smith) August 10, 1913 - July 10, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mrs. Frances Boulter, 275 Madeleine Street, formerly of the Murillo area, passed away after a brief illness, with her family by her side, at 12:35 pm Saturday July 10, 2004 at McKellar Community Care. Born Frances Louise Smith in Port Arthur on Aug 10, 1913 to George and Esther Smith (Saddington), she attended city schools, including the opening year of Port Arthur Technical School, now Hillcrest High School. At age 16 she moved with her family to Oliver Township, where she played on the Kakabeka Falls ladies’ softball team. There she met and married Fred Boulter, and with him operated a thriving dairy farm on John St. Road, where she lived for 62 years. She had been an elected member of the Oliver Township School Board, served on the Murillo Fair Board, long-time member of St. James Anglican Church, and, with her good humour and outgoing nature, was very well-known in her community. Her home, family, Bible study group, her rural life-style, her quilting, and her beautiful garden were her main interests. On August 10, 2003, still in excellent health, she celebrated her 90Th birthday with a large number of family members and friends at the Murillo Community Complex. She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband Fred on Nov 12, 1961, and by her 5 brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Mosher, William Mitchell, George Mitchell, Ellen Mitchell, all of Thunder Bay, Grenville Smith of Ottawa, and by a great-grand-daughter Hannah Kinsman in infancy. She is survived by her 3 children: John Boulter (Mary Ann) of Thunder Bay, Eleanor Vaillant (Lorne) of Murillo, and Fred Boulter (Lynn) of Murillo, as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Francine (Bill) Donolovitch and Amanda of Murillo, Jolene Vaillant (companion Dale Turecki) of Murillo, Neil (Tracy) Vaillant and their children Owen and Taylor of Murillo. Dr. Jamie Boulter-Berner (Matt) of Minneapolis, Jeanine Boulter-Bitzer (Roland) of Milverton Ont., Joanne Boulter (friend Brendan Marsden) of Ottawa, and a very dear foster daughter, Clara Spisak (Nick) of Hamilton. Also mourning her passing are nieces, nephews and other relatives, and a host of friends and admirers. Funeral services will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Murillo, on Wednesday July 14 at 11:00 am, Rev. Deborah Kraft officiating, with interment in the family plot in the churchyard. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday evening, July 13, from 7 to 9 pm at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Ave. As well as floral tributes, donations may be made in her name to the St. James Church Building Fund.
