Obituary of Frances-L. Hall


The funeral for Mrs. Frances Louise Thomas Hall will be Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, Florence, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Allen Montgomery and the Rev. Leonard McDowell officiating. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Tenn. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the parlor of First United Methodist Church. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.Mrs. Hall passed away Sunday, June 1. She was the daughter of Edward Cleveland Thomas Sr. and Frances Bertha Mayberry Thomas. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and Columbia Business College. She worked for the Department of Agriculture and TVA in Columbia, Tenn., before her marriage to Edward Reese Hall on Nov. 13, 1946, who preceded her in death in July 1990.She was an active member of Colonial Dames 17th Century, Alamance Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of Southern Dames of America, Kennedy-Douglass Volunteers, Pope's Tavern, Current Events Club, Hobby Club, Florence Garden Club, First United Methodist Church, Florence, since 1960, chairwoman of the Altar Guild of First United Methodist Church, Florence, charter member of United Methodist Women's Circle No. 2 and a devoted and loving member of the William A. Graham Sunday School Class. She loved to grow and arrange flowers for family and friends, including First United Methodist Church, Florence. While living in Columbus, Miss., she was a dedicated member of First Methodist Church and served as a hostess for the annual Pilgrimage.Mrs. Hall is survived by her daughter, Lourece Hall Dozier of Florence, Ala.; brother, Edward Cleveland Thomas Jr. of Columbia, Tenn.; a very dear friend, Estha Cole of Loretta, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.Her daughter, Lourece, would like to express her sincere gratitude to the management and staff of Shoney's Restaurant of Florence, Southland Restaurant of Sheffield, Joe Wheeler State Park Restaurant, Newbern's Restaurant of Florence and Cracker Barrell Restaurant of Florence for their special attention and kindness. A special thanks to Vivian Chandler, Marilyn Crowell, Tonya Patterson, Judy Rutledge, John Archer, Ginny Hawkins, Rachel and Billy Cadenhead, Tyler Wood, Barbara Bilstein, Geraldine Striplin, Marie Cunningham and many other neighbors and friends.Pallbearers will be men of First United Methodist Church.Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers, contributions to First United Methodist Church, Florence, or charity.
