Frances-James Miller, born in 1920, spouse of Joseph-L. Miller, daughter of Clarence-L and Minnie-Lee-Landreth, mother of James E, Mary, Co, Gloria, Ny and Julie, died on April 30, 2003 at 83 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
-> Frances James Miller, 83, widow of Joseph L. Miller, died Thursday, April 30, 2003 in her home in Savannah Square Senior Residence. She was born in Decatur, daughter of the late Clarence L. James and Minnie Lee Landreth James. She moved to Savannah at the age of eight where she lived for the rest of her life. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church since 1957. Mrs. Miller graduated from Savannah High School and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from Armstrong Atlantic and Georgia Southern Universities. Frances taught school for over 25 years at St. James Parochial School and in the Chatham County School System. Her many years of volunteer work included service with the Voter Registration Board, Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House, Candler Hospital Gift Shop and the Social Apostolate. She enjoyed filling her "social calendar" with travel and adventure and was a member of Best of Friends, the Daughters of Ireland, AARP and the Silver Liners. She is survived by daughters, Sister Julie Miller of Ossining, NY, Gloria Miller of Carbondale, CO, and Mary Pafford of Brunswick; son, James E. Miller of Warner Robins; sister, Martha James Wogeman of Purdy, MO; three grandchildren, Deanna Richardson of Tucson, AZ; John Pafford, Jr., of Atlanta, and Zachary Pafford of Statesboro. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 2 in Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Rosary Service: 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 2 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral Mass: 12:15 p.m., Saturday, May 3 in St. James Catholic Church with Fathers P. James Costigan and Joseph Smith officiating. Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception will follow at Riceland Hall, Savannah Square Senior Residence, One Savannah Square Drive.
