<!-- FH = Meadors Funeral Home, Republic -->Frances HarperMrs. Frances Harper, age 84, of Republic, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Christian Health Care, Republic, Mo. Frances was born on April 24,1927 in Hannibal, Mo. Her parents were Charles G. and Iva Frances (Mudd) Riehn. One brother, Eugene Vernell Riehn, made that family complete.On March 23,1947 Frances married William L. Harper, whom she met at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. Dr. John B. Alexander, head of the religion department of that college, married Bill and Frances in her family home, near Palmyra, Mo.Bill and Frances lived in Lexington, Ky., where Bill attended Lexington Theological Seminary. Their daughter, Judith Ann, was born in Versailles, Ky.Bill's first pastorate was the First Christian Church in Mount Morris, IL. Their son, William Charles, was born in Freeport, Ill., near Mount Morris. After her children were in school, Frances completed her college work at Carthage College, in Kenosha, Wisc. She taught in Secondary Schools at Savannah, Mo., Crane, Mo., and in the Kahoka, Mo. area schools. Frances was a member of the E.J. chapter of P.E.O., the Mu Gamma chapter of Chi Omega and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. In the Republic community, Frances was very active in the First Christian Church, where she was a member. Frances was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Judith Ann and Kim Doverspike, Republic, Mo., and William Charles and Linda Harper, Stroud, Okla.; grandchildren, Lyndal and William A. Harper; step- grandchildren, Amy, Heidi, and Ty Doverspike; a great- granddaughter, Kenadee; a brother, Eugene Vernell Riehn; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2011 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, in the Republic First Christian Church with the Reverend Melissa St. Clair officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic.Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Republic, or CASA of Southwest Missouri.
