<!-- FH = Groce Funeral Home, Lake Julian --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Frances King DavisAsheville - Frances King Davis died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.Born January 22, 1925, the fourth child of the late Carrie Mae King and Marvin Lanier King, she was named for both of her grandmothers.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, S.T., Susie, Wilburn, Tommie and Emily as well as by her young son, James Jones Akers III.She attended Pendleton, SC High School and graduated from Anderson, SC Girls High School. She attended Winthrop College, graduating in 1946 and attended Teachers College, Columbia University to begin her graduate studies for a Masters degree which she completed at UNC Charlotte. She taught first grade in Charlotte for twenty years and retired in 1985. She married Tom Davis in 1985 and they lived in Asheville and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. They were members of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, the Biltmore Forest Country Club and the Sawgrass Country Club. Frances was the first female member of the Charlotte City Club, a sustaining member of the Asheville Junior League and a president of the Forest Garden Club.In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by her daughter, Frances Anne Loub and her husband Greg and their two daughters, Summer Anne Loub and Chelsea Laura Loub, many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren, as well as her beloved Bichon dog, Skipper.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville with a reception following at 4:30 PM at the Crowfields Clubhouse. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
