Frances-Baldwin Smith, born in 1917, spouse of Frederick-William Smith, daughter of Winfred and Nathalie, mother of Nathalie Anne, died on March 1, 2009 at 92 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
Frances Baldwin Smith, 92, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, in her home. Frances was born February 4, 1917, to Winfred and Nathalie (Caduc) Baldwin. She graduated from Drury University with a Bachelors Degree and was a member of the PI BETA PHI sorority. Frances was a longtime active member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Binnie Clements Guild. The family business, Rogers and Baldwin Hardware Store, was a downtown Springfield landmark for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick William Smith; daughter Nathalie Anne White; and two sisters, Pauline Baldwin and Elizabeth McBride. Frances is survived by her son-in-law, Thomas White and his wife, Kathryn; three grandchildren, Allison White, Anne Peacock and her husband, Stephen, and Thomas White and his wife, Cynthia; four great-grandchildren, Victoria Peacock, Andrew Peacock, Nathalie White and Margaret White. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Greg Seckman officiating. No formal visitation is planned, however friends may call Tuesday March 3, 2009 after 4 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 East Cherry, Springfield, MO 65806 or to the Nathalie Smith White Music Scholarship Fund, Drury University, 900 North Benton Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802.
