LANG, Frances AnnJune 3, 1953 – St. Boniface, ManitobaJune 6, 2016 – Calgary, AlbertaA warm and generous spirit has spent her time with us and is now gone. Frances brought kindness, humour, joy, integrity, loyalty, love and generosity toward all who knew her. We all loved her greatly and as she lived so abundantly she left these lessons to become part of those who are left behind. We are all better for the time she was able to spend with us. Frances'' main goal throughout her life was to make others happy and smile. Compassionate and caring she put others and their needs first. Whether it was learning a few words in another language during her many travels, mentoring young summer students, or teaching new golfers that there was no water, "just blue carpet", her focus was always on encouraging and helping others. Golfing was her passion and her proudest moment came in Thailand when she shot an 88. She was an ardent sports fan cheering for the Flames as a season ticket holder for 24 years and a dedicated follower of the Washington Capitals, the Tennessee Titans and the LPGA on television. She was a role model to many women in the insurance industry when she was the General Manager of the Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta. When she moved to the oil and gas sector 18 years ago, first with Pan Canadian, through the merger to EnCana and then to Cenovus, she was known for the strong and positive work relationships she built with work colleagues and vendors. She was so proud of being able to work on the Bow transition team and help to make the move into the new building as smooth as possible. Frances was predeceased by her mother and father, Lillian and Alan Lang, and her cousin, Clint Inman. She is survived by her partner, Pat Pitsel; her Calgary family, Michelle and Larry Cook, Ian and Natalee, Avry and Ella Cook; Brendon and Michelle, Madison and McKenna Cook; Uncles and Aunts and Ernie and Adele Anderson and Margaret Anderson; and Cousins: Emily Inman. Pam Palcat and Family; Corrie Sargent and Family; Shane Inman and Family; Cyril Inman and Family; Fern McDonald and Family. Our thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at Unit 42, Foothills Hospital and at the Sarcee Hospice. Donations in Frances'' memory can be made to the Salvation Army. A Celebration of life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
