Obituary of Frances-A. Brooks


Frances A. Brooks NEWTOWN, PA - Frances A. Brooks, 58, of Newtown, PA, passed away suddenly at her home on May 11, 2013. Born in Trenton, Ms. Brooks was raised in Ewing and had been a resident of Newtown for the past 10 years. She was a speech pathologist at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne for more than 20 years. Previously, she was a secretary at the Naval Air Propulsion Center in Ewing, NJ. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey), where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees. Ms. Brooks was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association and a supporter of the arts, including the New Jersey Symphony and McCarter Theater. She also supported the effort to save the Ewing Presbyterian Church, and contributed to many other charities. She was an avid world traveler, having visited more than 20 foreign countries. Daughter of the late Robert F. Brooks, she is survived by her mother, Mary E. Brooks of Ewing; her sister, Elaine Brooks of Ewing; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. and Jo Ann Brooks of Ewing, and her sister and brother-in-law, Alicia and James Waltman of Hopewell. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Erica, Robert, Kevin and Megan Brooks, Julia (John) Schanne, and Emma and Jimmy Waltman, and her grandnephew and grandniece, John Henry Schanne III and Joanna Elaine. A memorial service will be held on June 2 at 3 p.m. at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association at 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington, NJ, 08534. Calling hours will precede the service from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Watershed. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the M.
