Family-Placed Obituary HERBERT H. LEE 11/22/21-11/2/07 Herbert H. Lee who would have celebrated his 86th birthday this month passed away at home November 2 one year after the death of his beloved wife Marilyn Harmelin Lee, then 78, and just days after what would have been their 59th wedding anniversary. Born and raised in Philadelphia, the fourth child of Mollie and Samuel, “H” (as he was known) graduated from West Philly High School and enrolled at Penn State University where he ran track and joined the Air Force officer's training program. As a second lieutenant he served as bombardier/navigator on a B-25 during World War II, and then attended and played football at the University of Texas. After marrying Marilyn in 1948 the couple moved to Dallas where they raised three sons: Sander, a university philosophy professor, Tony, an online media executive, and Mike, an advertising creative director. In the liquor business his entire career, H handled sales and marketing for such companies as Rums of Puerto Rico, Seagram & Sons, Julius Schepps Co., Glenmore Distillers and the Mexican tequila industry. He was an avid tennis player and taught Sunday school at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas. H and Marilyn moved to Palm Beach in 1987, and H spent the past 16 years working for the town's Seaview and Phipps tennis centers and Par 3 golf course. After Hurricane Wilma two years ago, H manned the town's comfort station, providing food and solace to visitors. He was featured in a front-page profile in the Palm Beach Daily News, cited for his “gift of gab and his interest in people.” H was one of Palm Beach's eldest employees at the time of his death. H is survived by: his brother, Sen. Sidney Lee of the U. S. Virgin Islands; son, Sander, wife Wendy and daughter Catherine Lee of Ashuelot, NH, son Tony, wife Jane and daughters Betsy and Mandy Lee of Titusville, NJ, and son Mike Lee of Dallas. A memorial gathering for H will be held at the Phipps Ocean Park Tennis Center, 2201 South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, on Sunday, November 18, from 3 pm to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in H's memory may be made to the following charitable organization in support of its youth tennis and tutoring programs for under-served children in Palm Beach County: First Serve of the Palm Beaches, P.
