Family-Placed Funeral Notice MARGARET HOLLAND HARRIS Margaret passed away at home on October 31, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Charles Harris. Margaret was born in Lafayette, Georgia, to Harry and Lurline Holland, and grew up in Dalton, Georgia. After completing her education at the University of Chattanooga, Tennessee, she moved to Atlanta where she was the administrative assistant to a bank President. It was in Atlanta that she met the love of her life, Charlie. Margaret and Charlie Harris moved to Palm Beach County during World War II. She became very involved in many local organizations in West Palm Beach, and served as President of the Palm Beach County Medical Society Auxiliary; President of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches; President of the Norton Museum of Art Auxiliary where she directed a Marionette show every Thursday for 12 years; and was President of the Chapter AL PEO. Margaret was a Charter Board member of the Science Museum and member of the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. She was an avid bridge player, loved her days of playing team tennis, and especially loved her lunches with “The Tangerines”. Margaret is survived by her son, Dr. James Harris and his wife Joan; a daughter, Suzanne McAliley and her husband Don; and three grandsons, Jim Harris and his wife, Carolyn, Ben Harris and Charlie Sawyer. Additional survivors include her sister, Vivian Threet, of Lafayette, Georgia; and a niece Jan Robbins of Illinois. A Memorial Service in celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Royal Poinciana Chapel, Palm Beach, FL with Dr. Robert Norris, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends in fellowship immediately following the service.
