Family-Placed Funeral Notice CHARLES P. "TOD" ANDERSON age 80, of Stuart, Florida, died of congestive heart failure, Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center of Clyde, NC. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, graduated from Northwestern University, and was married to the former Mary Ruth Harlow of Midland, Michigan for fifty years. For twenty years he was employed at the Dow Chemical Company in Midland. Following his love for the mountains and skiing, in 1968, Tod and Mary moved to Vail, Colorado. There he served on the Vail Town Council, was president of the Vail Rotary Club, and participated passionately as a member of the ski community. Their next move was in 1972 to Colorado Springs, Colorado where he continued his community service and was actively involved with the Colorado Springs Symphony and the Broadmoor Community Church. For health reasons, in 1985, they moved to Stuart, Florida into the wonderful community of Mariner Sands. Following the death of Mary, Tod married Jean Wooten in 1995. They remained active members of the Mariner Sands community in Stuart. They also shared and enjoyed a second home in Waynesville, NC. Tod is survived by his wife, Jean; a sister, Alison Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a son, Todger Anderson of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Mary Janet Stenger of State College, Pennsylvania and Fran Shields of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two step children, Brenda Bumgarner of Sylva, NC and Kent Culhan of Hobe Sound, Florida; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held January 5, 2004 in Stuart, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martin Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 9010, Stuart, FL 34995, Haywood Regional Medical Center Foundation, 262 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721, or Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, Florida 33401. Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
