Mrs. Frances Doyle Davis, of Edgewater, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the gentle age of 95. Born in 1916, she was raised in Maryland and North Carolina. She attended the Greenwood School in Baltimore, Maryland and was a member of the Bachelors Cotillion. In 1941 she married Commander Howland Staige Davis of Baltimore, a World War II naval war hero. After several moves they came to Florida to rest. Mrs. Davis was an accomplished artist in many ways; writing songs, stories and poetry, painting and creating amazing sculptures. She brought beauty into so many lives. Her last passion was her precious cats, Pepper and Angel. She was dearly and deeply loved. Mrs Davis is survived by two daughters, Catharine Hays Davis and Frances Davis Loyd; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach chapel, with Chaplain Laura Berg, Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Daytona Beach, officiating. Mrs. Davis will be buried next to her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 406 S.
