ANDERSON, FAYEGAINESVILLE, Fla. - Faye Anderson, age 86, died March 15, 2010, in Gainesville surrounded by her family. Faye was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Umatilla, Fla., a daughter of the late Katie Walker and John Quincy Walker of Branford, Fla. She was raised in Branford until her marriage to Maj. William Alvin Anderson in 1942. With William she traveled to and lived on Army bases in Japan, Germany, Texas, Virginia and Kentucky. Faye moved to Gainesville, Fla., in 1960 and lived there until the time of her death. In 1971 she enrolled in the University of Florida, where, at the age of 51, she graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in education. She began teaching at Chiefland High School in the Special Education department, where she remained until her retirement in 1992. Faye was also a substitute teacher well into her 80s. Faye was involved in the Mary Atwell Circle at Ephe-sus Advent Christian Church, Elk Wives, Swing n Sway Dance Club, Missionary Society and Ephesus Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by husband William Alvin Anderson; daughter Susan Anderson; sister Imogene Walker; and brother Jamie Walker. She is survived by husband Ed Copier; daughters Candace Koester and Deborah Anderson; sons Greg and Stan Anderson; sisters Mona, Marcia, Diane and Kay; grandchildren Tasha, Tamara, Lucas, Suzy, Erin, Ian, Ryman, Connor and Sophie; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Saylor, Haven, Emmy, Anderson; great-great-grandson Liam; along with several nieces and nephews. Services and Viewing: Memorial to be held Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at Ephesus Advent Christian Church in Branford with the viewing beginning at 9 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East, 3700 S.E.
