Evelyn W. Cooper, 91, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.Mrs. Cooper worked at G.C. Murphy for several years and worked in the injection department of Central Pharmaceutical, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Central Christian Church, where she was a member and past president of the Loyal Devoir, Christian Women's Fellowship, Dorcas Group, Central Christian Church Office Angel and a member of the Church and Community Committee sending birthday cards to members. She was a 1992 elder emeritus of Central Christian Church, was past president of Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary, volunteered for the Jackson County Hospital Guild, was a member and past president of Hilltop Home Extension Club, worked with Meals on Wheels and Jackson County Clothing Center and was a member of Jackson County Christian Women's Fellowship. Mrs. Cooper graduated from Bedford High School in 1934.Born Feb. 4, 1916, in McMechen, W.Va., she was a daughter of Wilfred E. and Lillie May Gatewood Cropp, both of whom preceded her in death. On Feb. 17, 1935, in Chillicothe, Ohio, she married Harold G. Cooper, who preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1984.Survivors include two sons, Dr. William E. Cooper, Columbus, and Larry G. (Marilyn) Cooper, Seymour; a daughter, Janice K. (Keith) Sells, Edinburgh; six grandchildren, Lisa Jane (Gary) Mendelow, Cleveland, Lesley Ann (Chris) Eberle, Fishers, Scott G. Cooper, Seymour, Stephanie (Scott) Priesmeyer, Columbia, Mo., Brian Kendall (Kristin) Sells, Overland Park, Kan., and Susan K. (Jay) Coffin, Orlando, Fla.; and 10 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred Cropp, and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ingle and Daisey Jane Rearley.The Rev. Sam Davenport will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.Memorials may be given to the Central Christian Church Building Fund, Lutheran Community Home, Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary or the donor's choice.www.burkholderfuneralchapel.com
