EVELYN OSOWSKI OWENS, 84Supervisor of Surgery LAKELAND - Evelyn Osowski Owens, 84, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, 5/9/2007 due to cancer. Evelyn was born in Chicago, IL., on July 18, 1922. She graduated from St. Mary's Hospital in Chicago, and earned her Masters Degree in Nursing at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She worked as a teacher of student nurses at Northwestern University and was a nurse at Wesley Memorial Hospital, now University Hospital, becoming supervisor of surgery. In addition to being a Vista Volunteer, after retiring to Florida in 1970 , she was president of the St. Joseph's Church Seniors Friendship Club, as well as two Canasta Ladies Card Clubs. She is survived by her sister, Regina LeBryk and too many friends, nieces and nephews and grandkids to mention, who all loved her unconditionally because it was so well deserved. Friends will be received at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Hwy, tonight Friday from 6 00 to 8 00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 5/12/2007 at 12 00 noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
