NOONAN, Evelyn Lenore (née Tanton) On November 10, at the age of 95, Evelyn passed away peacefully at the Colonel By Retirement Residence in Ottawa, just down the street from her childhood home. Evelyn grew up in Ottawa and attended Glebe Collegiate. She graduated from U of T with a degree in Home Economics and later acquired her teaching certificate from Queen's University which she put to use teaching at Ridgemont High School. Evelyn was a Girl Guide and had many fond memories of her time as a swim instructor at Camp Woolsey. She was a long time member of the Britannia Yacht Club. It was here she met her husband Jack. She and Jack were avid sailors who built yachts and sailed the seas of the world. They also built their family home in which she lived for 60 years! She is predeceased by her parents, Dr. Thomas Leslie Tanton and Pearl (Campbell) Tanton; her brother, John and his wife Gertrude; and her loving husband, Jack. She is survived by her son, Richard; her brother, Arthur and his wife Mary Jane; her sister, Helen; cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her bright, enthusiastic, and adventurous spirit. The family is grateful for the care and support received from Dr. Warrack and the staff at the Colonel By. Friends and family are invited to visit at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave. (East of Vanier Parkway), Ottawa on Saturday, November 29 from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. In memoriam donations to the Girl Guides of Canada would be appreciated.
