Evelyn Godwin Cooper, 92, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Brooks San Marco Terrace. She was born on Nov. 3, 1918, in Pelham, Ga. The family moved to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1925, where Evelyn attended the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. She was an active member of McDowell Baptist Church. She was an associate member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Clarence Blalock officiating. Burial will be in Crawfordsville, Ind. She is predeceased by her parents, Talmage and Helen Godwin; husband, Lowell Cooper; sister, Frances (John) Eichert; brother, Robert Godwin; and son-in-law Tony Ashton.She is survived by her son, Donald (Dana) Cooper; grandson, Daniel Cooper; daughter, Cheryl Ashton; stepgrandchildren, Stacey (Marty) Williams and Bradley (Sarah) Ashton; stepgreat-grandchildren, Luke George and Ensley Ashton; sister-in-law, Blanche Godwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations can be made in her name to McDowell Baptist Church, St. Augustine, or to your favorite charity.Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
