Obituary of Evelyn Charette

February 16, 2009 Evelyn Charette, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Monday. She was born in Maryland, NY to Leona and Frank Hitchman. She attended Oneonta State University receiving her Bachelor's of Arts and Syracuse University, completing her Master's in Library Science. She worked for 15 years as a catalog librarian in the Syracuse Public Library and for 12 years at St. Mary's School in Minoa. She took time in between jobs to raise her son, Edward. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leo G. Charette, and their son, Edward J. Charette (wife, Kristin), and grandson, Chad. She is also survived by her brother, Elwood Penner; a sister, Eloise Manning; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to PACE of CNY.
