MARTIN , (M.) Eve (nee Cope)August 7, 1930 - January 4, 2014Eve Martin passed away in Victoria, BC after dealing with dementia and other health issues. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom, in 2008. Eve is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Bob,) son, Jeff (Anna-Tora), sister Pam (Jim,) sister-in-law, Shirley (Jimmy), nieces Lyn, (David), Ann, nephew, Martin (Elaine), Bob, and their wonderful families, as well as Jeff's great family in Sweden. Also survived by Eve's step-grand family, Jason and Julia and their daughters, Maddy, Hannah, Clarissa and Zoe. Eve grew up in Pointe Claire, Quebec. She graduated from Montreal West High School at the age of 15, winning the award for top marks in her English class. She took secretarial training and worked for several years before marrying Tom and starting a family. When Kathy and Jeff were quite young, Eve became the first working Mum in the suburban Montreal neighborhood where the family was raised in the 1960s. Kathy and Jeff were proud of the work ethic she exemplified for her children and the neighbourhood. She worked for Macdonald College (of McGill University) for many years. She was also always home to help with homework in the evenings. When Kathy and Jeff were grown, Eve went back to school, graduating with a degree in Social Work from McGill. Eve spent some time doing social work; then went back to Macdonald College. Tom and Eve retired to Vancouver Island, where they enjoyed nearly a whole another lifetime of things to do. Eve inherited her parents' artistic skills; painting, flower- arranging, gardening and ikebana to name a few. No service will be held by request.
