WALKER, Eva MeikleApril 23, 1921 - March 6, 2014Eva passed away peacefully with her family by her side at South Terrace Extended Care. Eva grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, and then trained as a physiotherapist and teacher in Birmingham. She married her childhood sweetheart, George Walker, in 1943 and they settled in London. In 1959 they moved to Vancouver, and then to Edmonton in 1964. Eva exemplified the wise doctrine, "bloom where you're planted." Whatever the circumstances, Eva made the most of every experience, and her kindness and cheerfulness endeared her to all who knew her. She and George spent many happy winters in Palm Springs, where George died in 2010.Eva is survived by her children Crawford (Ulli) in Victoria, and Ruth (Terry Glancy) in Edmonton, and her grandchildren Brendan (Julianna), Alex (Naomi), Stephen (Maureen), Will, and Eva. In 2013 she welcomed three great-grandchildren: Samuel Glancy, Hayden Walker, and Logan Walker. Eva was a devoted member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter A-E. She loved to socialize and enjoyed ballets, concerts, and meals out with family and friends right to the end. The family is grateful to the staff of the Ashbourne and, very briefly, South Terrace, for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Ashbourne, 11148 - 84 Avenue on April 21, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. To send condolences or share a memory, tribute, or photo, please visitwww.southsidememorial.com
