Funeral Services for Eula Mae Prince Hayes who died Jan. 11, 2009, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Mt. Zion AME Church, 449 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., with the Rev. Walter J. Lassiter, II, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Daytona Memorial Park. Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 16) at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home. Eula Mae Prince Hayes, 85, was born to the late Eula McDonald and Professor William Duncan Prince, Sr., May 11, 1923, in Sumter, South Carolina on the campus of Morris College. Eula Mae, twin sister Eunice and the remainder of the family moved to Daytona Beach at the age of six when her father became the principal of Campbell High School. Eula Mae slept away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, January 11, 2009. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1941. She had four siblings: brother, William Prince, Jr. (deceased) and three sisters, twin, Eunice Sims, Juliet B. Prince and Mildred Prince, all deceased. Eula Mae marriedAndrew Hopkins and they very lovingly shared seven children, Robert A. Prince, Sr., Mildred Hopkins Edwards, MarvaHopkins, Ronald P. Hopkins (deceased), Juliet Hopkins Perry, Sheryl Hopkins Robinson and Raymond Hopkins. Later in life she married Isaac A. Hayes, Sr., and shared three sons, Isaac A. Hayes, Jr., Bruce L. Hayes (deceased) and Stanley Hayes. Mrs. Hayes was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church for 60 plus years, having served in the Gospel Choir, various committees, and the John Connelly Club. In December 2004, she was consecrated a Deaconess by Bishop McKinley Young, Presiding Bishop, Florida and the Bahamas. Mrs. Hayes was a loyal member of the Westside Business and Professionals for many years serving as secretary. She was a member of Zeta Ameci Club of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to her eight children; sons-in-law,Percell Perry, III and Herman Robinson; daughters-in-law,Corrine Prince, Julia Hayes and Shirley Hayes; 26 grandchildren, Willie J. Williams, III, Shanel Burks, Princey Henderson (Andrae),Roland Edwards, Albert Edwards, Robert Prince, Jr. (Kim), Rodney Prince, Sr. (Elvia), Mario Edwards, Selena Hayes, Kenya Wallace (Jeff), Kim Smith, Cedric Hayes (Tonya), Keya Laws, Kara Laws, Felecia Hayes, Lakeshia Hayes, Kermitt Hopkins (Keisha),Raymond Hopkins, Kameesh Perry, Purcell Perry, IV, Princess Flores (Chris), Ferine Perry, Danielle Prince, Reijina Hopkins, DeAngelo Irving and Shandrea Robinson; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bennie Tooley (Oscar), Martha Hopkins, Delores Hopkins, Angela Harris (Robert) and Allie Hopkins; special niece, Waymona SimsGraham (Kent); special nephews, William Prince, III and Walter Sims, Jr.; many other nieces and nephews, cousins and extended children some of whom she helped to rear; Dr. Rolffs Pinkerton and LynnLeonard; goddaughter, Norma Joe Bland; many loving friends.
