Athens - Eugene Lucas, 77, died February 18, 2006. He was retired from the military after 21 years of service. After moving to Athens in 1971, he joined the Clarke County Sheriffís Dept., later Clarke County Police Dept. and retired in 1991 from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department after 20 years of service.He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughter Lori Lucas, Atlanta, daughter and son-in-law Jacqueline and Lee Fowler, Columbia, SC, son Kenneth Lucas, Madison County and granddaughter Andrea Fowler, Columbia, SC.The body will be cremated with no services planned at this time.The family requests that flowers be omitted.The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Lord & Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
