Etta Mae Williams, 87, of Springfield, passed away February 4, 2006, at 7:45 p.m., in her home, after her battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her family. She was born March 23, 1918, in Morrisville, Mo., to John Ashley and Anna (Hickman) Hurd. Etta Mae lived most of her life in Springfield. After her marriage to Floyd Williams in 1975, she moved to Rolla, Missouri, and was there until his death in 1995. She then returned to Springfield to live at the Golden Acres Village at Berean Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents five sisters a brother her husbands, John Earnest Meador in 1957, and Harold Enlow in 1969 her daughter, Peggy Hensley and an infant son. Etta Mae retired from Lily Tulip in 1975. She was saved as a young girl at Hamlin Baptist Church, Springfield. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Springfield. She took pride in being the best Grandma. She could tell you the birthdays of all her children and their spouses and her 40 grandchildren and their spouses. She never missed sending them birthday cards. Her love for her family was evident when you walked in the door. It was always fun going to Grandma Etta Mae's house. She always had candy to fill your pockets before you left and loved cooking or baking your favorite food. Her family and friends enjoyed her famous "melt-in-yourmouth" peanut brittle. The family will always remember her vitality and passion for life as being spunky, witty and a little ornery at times and her many musical and animated toys that she had collected. Her giggles and sweet smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Etta Mae is survived by two daughters, Dessie Fielding and husband, Joe, of Springfield and Norma Jenkins and husband, Tom, of Fair Play, Mo. two sons, Earnest Meador and wife, Linda, and Tom Meador and wife, Wanda, both of Springfield son-in-law, Gene Hensley, of Springfield 14 grand- children 24 great-grandchildren two great-great-grand- children nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Berean Baptist Church, 507 East Norton, Springfield, with Bro. Fred Reamsnider officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation is this evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The family would like to thank her Hospice nurse. Cheri for her loving care.
