SMITH _ Ethel May (nee Kilgour) Ethel died February 25, 2007 at Ridge Meadows Hospital in the company of family. She was born in Winnipeg on June 11, 1915 and moved to Vancouver with her family in 1918 where she graduated from John Oliver High School. Ethel's husband Bill predeceased her as did 4 out of 9 siblings. She is survived by her children Clayton (Connie), Bob (Grace) and Elaine (Wilf). She leaves 4 grandchildren: Melissa (Devon), Matthew, Tristen and Scott. Ethel enjoyed working in the printing industry, giving it up to raise her family, returning to it later in life. Ethel and family moved to Pender Island from 1956 to 1963, moving back to Vancouver to educate the children. Ethel was accomplished at crafts, teaching knitting, crocheting and cardmaking. She dried and pressed Pender Island wild flowers for her custom greeting cards, an art she taught her grandchildren, who still enjoy the craft. Ethel was a fine wife, mother and grandmother whose family and friends will miss her kind heart, loving support and fine baking. The family invites you to join them in a celebration of life on March 3rd, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Willow Manor Senior Community, 12275 - 224th Street, Maple Ridge. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made to Ridge Meadows Hospital.
