Mrs. Ethel Mae Smith, 81, of Oakwood died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Peachtree Plantation. Born in Forsyth County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Walter N. and Estelle Gantt Burtz. She had lived in the Atlanta area for over 30 years before moving back to Hall County a number of years ago. She was retired from U.S. Westvaco Company, where she worked as a accountant. Mrs. Smith was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, O.W. Smith; and sisters, Frances B. Bryant and Inez B. Bryant. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in the Alta Vista Cemetery, The Rev. Drewery Loggins will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Victory Baptist Church or Odessey Hospice in memory of Mrs. Smith.
