Mrs. Ethel Crews Carter, 84, died early Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at a local care center. Mrs. Carter was a native of Folkston, Georgia and had lived in Jacksonville for more than 50 years. She retired from King Edward Cigar Factory and was a member of Norwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Burton L. Carter on Sept. 20, 2000 and is survived by 3 step-children: Doyle B. Carter, Darrell K. Carter and Ilene Crews; 2 sisters: Margarette C. (Steve) Farnham and Omega Hewitt and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services and viewing will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Homeland Cemetery in Folkston, Georgia with Rev. Darrel Murray and John Michael Bazzell, officiating.
