Obituary of Ethel Carter

CARTER, Ethel Barry, 86, of Temple Terrace, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005. She was born and raised in Mobile, Ala., and was married to the Rev. Dr. B. Carroll Carter for 54 years until his death in 1992. Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace. While her husband was a professor at Tift College, she managed the bookstore and always had a willing ear and good advice for the students. Most of her life was spent in service to young women in church. She was crippled by arthritis from an early age but was always known for her sweet spirit and her sense of humor. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Susan C. McMillan and husband, John, of Temple Terrace, Martha Ann Rankhorn and husband, Homer, of Clearwater, and Henry Barry Carter and wife, Carolyn, of Snellville, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Donna Carter; and numerous grandchildren. Ethel will be sadly missed by family and friends alike. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. May 31 at Terrace Oaks Funeral Home. Family w ill receive friends 10-11 a.m. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. June 2 at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Pinehurst, Ga.
