DOVER — Esther Louise Smith, 89, of Kindred Transitional Cate & Rehabilitation Center (formerly Dover Rehabilitation), formerly of Maplewood Avenue, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center. Esther was born on Oct. 7, 1922 in Ridley, Maine, the daughter of Joseph A. and Marie (Davis) Gingras. Esther married her husband, Edward Smith, in June of 1959. She worked at Clarostat, Eastern Air Devices and Elliot Rose Company here in Dover. Esther was a long time member of the First Parish Congregational Church of Dover. Esther enjoyed being a Foster Mom, and she enjoyed her knitting group, Bible study, camping, fishing and Reading.Esther is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Edward Smith of Dover; daughter, Mrs. Esther Amato of Dover; two brothers, John Gingras of Lee and Joseph Gingras of Dover; two granddaughters, Kristin Innis and Jennifer Milliard; two great grandsons, DJ and Ryan Innis; several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Davis Witherell. Family flowers only please. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.
