ObituaryEsther Johnson, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2001, from a heart attack during a trip to Branson, Missouri. She was married to Howard C. Johnson, who died in 1995. Surviving are her sister, Helen Shaw; four children: Sharon Wolf of Largo, Florida, Marilyn Copeland of Okeana, Ohio, Larry Johnson of Wellington, Florida and Robert Johnson of Okeana, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Esther was the daughter of Alva and Pearl Nickels, and was one of five children. She married Howard in 1939 and lived with him in the Panama Canal Zone. Following World War II, they settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then moved to a farm outside Cincinnati. After retirement, they moved to Fort Myers and built a house on the Caloosahatchee River. Esther was a devoted mother, a Christian active in the Methodist church, and an active member of the Olga Community Club. She sang in the choir and was a leader in various women's groups. Visitation will be on Friday, 8/24/01, at the John Brader Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio, 513-367-4005. Funeral services will be on Saturday 8/25/01, at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, Ohio. A memorial service will be scheduled at the Methodist Church in Riverdale at a later date.
