Obituary of Esther-Mary Dougherty


DOUGHERTY Esther Mary Dougherty, age 92 of Middleburg, FL passed away January 11, 2007. She was born April 2, 1914 in Philadelphia, PA, the last of 13 children born to Enrico Ballezza and Agnes Grasso Ballezza. A very caring wife, mother, and grandmother, she was affectionately known by all as “Granny”. She and her family owned and operated grocery stores and she was artistic with crafts and painting, and was dedicated to her Catholic Faith. Surviving are her daughters Ellen Sciulli and husband Nicholas, and Mary Marshall and husband Arthur; her son Thomas Dougherty and wife Anne; her grandchildren Joseph Sciulli and wife Maryanne, Daniel Marshall and wife Doreen, also Kathryn, Kelley, Thomas, and Elizabeth Dougherty; great grandchildren Erin and Nicholas Sciulli. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 16, 2007 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1606 Blanding Blvd., Middleburg, FL with Fr. Edward K. Rooney officiating. Graveside services and committal for Mrs. Dougherty will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, FL at 2:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon. Family members and friends will gather from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at St. Luke Catholic Church on Tuesday morning. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
