McGILL _ Esther Margaret 1930 - 2007 Esther Margaret McGill of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the age of 76 years. Esther was born in the Rosehill district of Manitoba, at a family home where all of the kids were raised during the 1930's, living well because their farm was self-sufficient. Esther went to elementary school at Chipping Hill District, MB (school is still standing) and went to high school in McGregor, MB. Esther earned her Teaching Degree from the University of Winnipeg and went on to get her Masters in Oregon, USA. She then taught for ten years at St. James Collegiate as a Phys Ed teacher. Esther loved all sports and competition and she took the Manitoba Grand Championship for Women's Archery. Shortly after, she moved to Calgary and taught Math and Phys Ed at Henry Wise Wood and Crescent Heights High Schools. On April 21, 1978, she married Peter McGill. She loved to play tennis, go hiking, and was the most avid skier. Esther was also an avid bird watcher; always waiting for spring to bring back the birds and wild flowers. A large family remaining will miss her cheers, encouragement, and wisdom: step-daughter Annabelle McCorkindale; son-in-law Bill McCorkindale; grandchildren, William, Michelle, and Peter; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Elvin Aymont; nephews and nieces, Kerry Aymont and family, Carolyn and John Somers and their son Danny Pearson (Lisa Hunter). Esther was predeceased by her husband Peter McGill in 1999; and her parents, many years ago. A Celebration of Esther's Life will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W.
