June 2,1925 - October 1, 2011 Esther June Roddan Carter was a force of nature, and after giving it her all, as always, died at Vancouver General Hospital on October 1st, 2011 at the age of 86. A VGH nursing grad, a mother, and a woman extraordinaire, Esther is survived by her daughters Debra and Diane; her son-in-law Les; granddaughters Chelsea, Nicola, and Hailey; her sisters-in-law Gale, Helen, Hulda, and Josie; and most of all, her beloved brother David. Her loving husband George and their beautiful son David have already gone on before. Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the caring staff at Honoria Conway Assisted Living for all the meaningful touches that helped give quality to Esther's remaining time, and to the many friends with whom she shared so many wonderful years, especially Willie and Gordy. Esther and her vibrant passion for life will be greatly missed by many and we invite you to a celebration of her life to be held at Shaughnessy Heights United Church (Granville & 33rd Street in Vancouver) on Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at 1:30 PM. If so inclined, rather than flowers donations may be made to the BC Mental Health Foundation or to the First United Church at Hastings & Gore.
