Esther-Ann Levine, born in 1906, died on August 29, 2004. Please consult the obituary here:
Levine, Esther Ann was called to the world to come on Sunday, August 29, 2004. She orchestrated and planned for a private encryption on the hallowed grounds of Menorah Southwest Ranches which was held on Monday, August 30, 2004. Ann, as she was known, was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 1, 1906. She was married to Lou Levine for fifty eight years until his passing in December, 1983. In 1957, they opened their first Lanson's men's clothing store which rose to a chain of eleven stores in Florida. In 1983, they purchased the chain of Baron's men's stores. Ann never forgot her very humble beginnings and took such pride when she and Lou created the Lou and Ann Levine Lanson's Foundation which later became known as the Esther Ann Levine Baron's Foundation. Their philanthropy reached many organizations, including but not limited to Mt. Sinai Hospital, Bascolm Palmer Eye Institute, The National Asthma Center, as well as numerous local and national causes. During World War II, Ann worked as a lieutenant for the American Women's Voluntary Service, where she sold war bonds at the Roxy Theater. She was so proud of serving her country during the War and until the day of her passing she felt so strongly about the freedom that this country affords its citizens. She is survived by three children, Harold, Norman and Eleanor, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her long life was a testament to the good life she lead.
