Estelle Bonnie Hewett Scott passed away on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. She was born March 19, 1927, to the late Claude and Verdie Hewett of Bonifay, Fla., and was a member of East Bay Baptist Church in Callaway, Fla. She was preceded in death by one brother, Preston Hewett of Bonifay; and one great-granddaughter, Autumn Michele Burden of Panama City. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Astor F. Scott (Dick); children, Douglas A. Scott and Kathryn S. Sampson (Earl); grandchildren, Lorri Buiden and Michele Schoolcraft (Garry) of Atlanta, Ga., Scott Raffield of New York City, and Tracee Borden (Jonathan) of Bethlehem, Israel; two brothers, Larry Hewett (Deana) of Ocala, Fla., and Garry Hewett (Janice) of Bonifay. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, Sarah, Brandon, Ryan, Zoe and Jessi. Estelle has numerous family members whom she loved dearly and would attend and fully enjoy every family reunion she could! She moved to Panama City from Bonifay, Fla., in 1945 and worked at the Wainwright Shipyard during World War II. She married Dick on Nov. 2, 1946, and spent over 20 years of her life traveling with her family to Turkey, Brazil, Florida, Virginia, Alaska, Maine and New York. Mom loved her family and friends unconditionally and she did not care who you were or what you did. She always looked at the positive side and chose her words carefully, and that is why her family thinks of her as our special angel. You would always leave her feeling better than when you walked in. The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. We wish to thank Dr. Bruce Josten, Covenant Hospice, Bay Medical Center and Community Health & Rehab for the care, love and compassion they gave our mom. A very special thank you to Ana with Covenant Hospice for singing to mom, both before she passed away, and after. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Covenant Hospice of Bay County or the Alzheimer's Foundation, of which mom was a local member.
