Harper - Essie Mae GoldenEssie Mae Golden Harper, of Gainesville, passed away Thursday February 17, 2011 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. She was 95 years young. Born on November 17, 1915 in Live Oak, Florida, she moved to Gainesville in 1938, and was a homemaker. She loved to travel. She and her niece, Genie Golden, traveled all over the world and shared many wonderful experiences, which she loved to share with her family and friends. Essie was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney W. Harper, her parents, Henry Eugene and Arabelle Golden, her sister Mazie Gamble, brothers Orval, Leo and Stansel Golden. She is survived by a brother, Clayton Golden (Wynelle) of Raleigh, NC, sister-in-laws Judy Golden and Irma Golden of Gainesville, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Northwest Baptist Church, 5514 NW 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32606, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
