CARTER Ernest O. Carter, 92, passed away on December 20, 2003. Born in Mobile, Alabama, he lived in Jacksonville for more than 60 years. Mr. Carter retired from the U.S. Naval Air Station and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of San Jose Episcopal Church, a life member of the Scottish Rite, Morocco Temple, Morocco Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Masonic Duval Lodge #159. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Terry Carter. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sybil Carter; daughter, Teresa Turner and her husband, Lynn, of Atlanta, Georgia; and sister, Virginia Harrison and her husband, Jack, of Fernandina Beach. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23rd, at Oaklawn Cemetery with The Reverend Frank Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday (today) at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue.
