LEOMINSTER -- Ernest F. Pelkey, 91, of 1160 Main St., in Leominster, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in the Life Care Center of Leominster. He was born on Nov. 30, 1915, in Fitchburg, was the son of Joseph and Eva (Butler) Pelkey. Mr. Pelkey was a graduate of Leominster High School. He is a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II having served on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. While in the Navy he earned the rank of Machinist Mate Third Class Sv6, he also earned the Good Conduct Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific-12 stars medal. Mr. Pelkey worked as a floor manager for Whitney Box Company. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Leominster. Mr. Pelkey is survived by a son, Ronald R. Pelkey of Minnesota; and a granddaughter, Catherine Pelkey. He was predeceased by his wife, Olive R. (Valle) Pelkey; two brothers, Edward Pelkey and Raymond Pelkey; and a sister, Doris Eastern. PELKEY -- On Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, Ernest F. Pelkey, 91, of Leominster. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 60 West St., in Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster. There are no calling hours. Wright - Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., in Leominster, is directing arrangements.
