FRANKLIN - Erma F. Williams, 93, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at a local nursing home. Erma was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Franklin, the daughter of E. Dalton and Della (Goodwin) Reed. Erma's marriage to David, who was six years older, stressed her mother but turned out well. Erma and David enjoyed dancing, traveling, and looking after each other, family and friends. Erma worked summers in the blueberry factory and held full-time jobs at the lunch counter at Strattons Store, Ellsworth. Erma's job as a cook at Franklin Consolidated School and Mount View School brings back fond memories to many students. Erma had a soft spot in her heart for animals and advocated for them whenever possible. Erma was a 69-year member of Schoodic Grange No. 420. She was feisty with a wonderful sense of humor. Erma and Dave both treated friends like family, especially longtime neighbors, Fannie and Eddie Young. Erma was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, David; and son, Norman. She is survived by one son, Lloyd and his wife, Sharon; two grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth; and five great-grandchildren: Michael's twin sons, Benjamin and Brandon, and sons, Jacob and Hunter, and Elizabeth's son, Jack. Erma has one surviving sister, Gloria Mosley; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service of remembrance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Connelly officiating. A reception will be held 2-4 p.m. Oct. 1 at Franklin Veterans Club.
